What is an "Ad Group"?

An Ad Group can be compared to a ‘folder’ within a Google AdWords campaign. It allows advertisers to optimize sets of keywords, ad copy, and placements.

What is an Ad Group?

An ad group can be compared to a ‘folder’ within an Google AdWords or PPC advertising campaign. It usually contains related keywords or phrases with multiple match types, as well as one or more advertisements, negative keywords, placements, topics and/or target groups.

A successful Google AdWords campaign should have a large number of ad groups within a campaign, so these can be individually tested with effective and/or relevant advertisements, keywords and settings.
